Illegal Commercial Software

　　When I was a graduate student, I had ever obtained the source code of commercial software from a famous hacker. However, I found a terrible matter that the illegal commercial software cannot produce the correct results, and I tried to ask this hacker the reason. The hacker told me that most of the illegal commercial software just let the users know how to operate its interface, but they had been changed some internal coefficients from the source code. Actually, the users just want to learn how to operate it, so that it makes sense truly.

　　Even if I found the errors, I still could not change all of the errors. Why? The source code was too huge, so that anyone cannot modify it. It doesn't matter that who steals the source code, but you should buy the software if you want to use. I just know how to operate little commercial software, and of course I'll buy software if I really want to use. I have never stolen the source code, and I just want to let all of you know the TRUTH.

　　Please DON'T use the illegal commercial software on the commercial purposes, or you are possible to shoulder the criminal responsibility. What's the criminal responsibility? If you don't get the correct results, all of the results will be wrong data. Of course, if you buy the legal software, the software companies have the responsibility to provide the CORRECT result.

　　Oppositely, the software companies permit the users to practice the GUI of illegal commercial software before they starts to use the software on the commercial purposes. After you own a large number of GUI experiences, you have possessed the fundamental ability of software operation. The professional ability is based on the GUI experiences, and then you can accumulate your working experiences by using the legal software on your job. How to use unfamiliar Computer Programs

　　I spent half day to complete a χ2 test for a kind of hydrologic frequency analysis methods, and I also had to use K-S test to analyze it. Actually, there were 5 hydraulic frequency analysis methods at least, so that I thought the best solving approach was to use the computer program. I found a computer program written in QuickBasic, and it had a good GUI of Microsoft DOS. It's worth to be mentioned that the author is a Taiwanese, and its background is originally developed from student homework.

　　When I was still a student, I had tried to use many computer programs. In Taiwan, the most famous website of computer program collection should be the Slime's first homepage which provides a large number of LEGAL freeware and shareware, and of course it's not easy to avoid the computer viruses to attack your computer. You shall backup your data firstly, and then you can spend your leisure time to try any computer program as far as you can. Whatever any computer program may be, you can use the same way to take it as your tool in the shortest time. After you get a computer program, you should review its GUI menu and help file firstly. In general speaking, you can use some functions without learning, so that you'll spend your time on the other functions.

　　I always catch the fundamental operational logic, and then I read the help file or technical document to understand its details. It's necessary to imitate the examples, and the experiences are also important for you to operate the computer program. In case you can acquire some real cases from the literatures or internet, it's helpful for you to know how to use the computer program in a specific field.What's the most important matter? I think that you should really understand the meanings of technical document, or you cannot correctly operate the computer program to achieve your requirements. I always read the technical document more than 2 times to avoid the misunderstanding.

To avoid Committing Suicide for the Students

　　I know a student of Jianguo High School committed suicide yesterday. If you have large pressure, you may try to see a Psychiatrist. I think it's a good approach, and you don't have to fear to become a permanent patient. Or, I think you should read for your high school program in the 2nd or 3rd ranking school. In your school, you also can communicate with the counselor, and he or she is going to solve your mental problems. I like a good motto which comes from C. S. Yen's book, and it's as follow.

抱最大的希望，盡最大的努力，做最壞的打算。
　　In NTU, the freshmen are about 3,500 students every year, and there are 1/6 students who come from the Jianguo High School. After 4 years later, there will be 1/6 students who have the same education. If your political thinking is not Taiwan Independence, it won't be necessary to complete your education in NTU and Jianguo High School. Please don't let yourself feel so large pressure.

　　Even if the result is bad, you will have done your best. In July 1995, I didn't get a good examination grade for the entrance examination of high school. However, after I got into the Taiwanese Career and Technological System, I obtained a better learning and development on the contrary. If you ask me how you should do, I'll say "Do your best as far as you can".

Urban Renewal and Wang's House II

　　Why do you need to agree the builders' reasonable conditions? I know you want to eat a candy, and therefore the government has to solve this problem to help the builders. The government named the candy "Bulk Incentive", and you can study the part V of the Urban Renewal Act. If you understand Engineering Economics, you can comprehend "After all, the wool still comes from the sheep's back." However, the urban renewal has to continue its progress, or the city is going to stop its development. Although the bulk incentive is reasonable, you should still invite the professional persons to help you. Which kind of professional person? Real Estate Appraiser, for example.
