According to the statistical data of the Ministry of Labor in January 2014, there are 877,846 labors (Ministry of Labor) involved in the construction industry, and, compared with the whole 11,035,984 labors (Ministry of Labor), the ratio of the construction industry is about 7.954% to own the main role in the economic productivity in Taiwan. Actually, the construction engineering is a part of civil engineering, but this field owns a huge job market to raise its importance in civil engineering.
In construction engineering, the fundamental courses are almost the same as the civil engineering, but the advanced courses generate the different branches to let this field become a part of civil engineering. In fact, the construction engineering is the lower level field in civil engineering, and the research fields do not include construction engineering in civil engineering. In the present Department of Civil Engineering at the University, the construction management is adopted to replace the construction engineering, and the field of construction engineering has become the technologies of the construction industry in the world. In the present education of construction engineering, the different construction videos are adopted as the content of courses, and the Professors also teach the standard textbooks for the students to acquire the fundamental construction procedures. Besides, the Professors may prepare several working sites as the teaching positions, and the Working Site Managers may assist the Professors to introduce the construction methods, construction procedures, and construction management.
If the Working Site Managers have enough engineering experiences, they may be chosen as the lecturers in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Universities. About the research problems in construction engineering, the Working Site Managers may submit the Journal Papers to provide the construction problems, construction solutions, …, and so on. In the University, the Professors may provide the solutions for them as references, and the Working Site Managers may respond to establish the communication mechanism. Actually, the Professors do not have the intention to communicate with the Working Site Managers, and this is the main reason why the Professors do not intent to research the problems of construction engineering. In such kind of situation, the construction problems and construction solutions must be separated by the Working Site Managers and Professors respectively, and the Working Site Manager and Professor may not know each other to provide the construction problem and construction solution in the world. The Working Site Managers submit the Journal Papers to provide the construction problems, and the Professors may submit the Journal Papers to provide the construction solutions.
In the academic research, if a Working Site Manager submits a Journal paper to provide a construction problem, he may describe the DETAILS of the construction problem, collect ALL of the relative papers, images, record data, …, and so on, to obtain a Ph.D. Civil. In the world, most of the doctoral dissertations do not have any contribution in the academic research, but, if a Working Site Manager discovers an inexistent construction problem, he can write down it and absolutely own the qualification to be awarded a Ph.D. Civil at the University. In construction engineering, nobody focuses on this field to do any research, but the Working Site Manager may work in the working sites to discover an inexistent construction problem. Although the Working Site Managers are the lower level professions, the quantity of the inexistent construction problems is limited to award them the Ph.D. Civil. If anybody thinks such kind of Ph.D. Civil is very easy, he can go to the working sites to discover a construction problem. In construction engineering, the minimum experiences of working sites may be 1 year to understand almost all of the construction details, but, if anybody involves in the working sites more years, he may discover a inexistent construction problem.
The two-way mechanism of academic research is proposed as the communicative mode in construction engineering.
